Items addressed in the patch (Af2 Version 1.03):
- Threat mode targeting has been improved.
- Adds keys for systems that can't use Print Screen or Scroll Lock. 'Alt-A' for Air
Support 'Alt-B' for Artillery
- Adds a laser target lock warning indicator to the damage indicator. It will flash yellow
in the direction of the lock. Damage overrides the laser warning.
- Foreign characters were added to the fonts for chat with other language versions.
- Fixes lag problem with the Peacekeeper mission.
Multiplayer:
- Cheat codes are locked out in multiplayer.
- A "Waiting For" screen has been added to allow players to see what is going on
during a multiplayer load. The waiting screen will only remain up for 90 seconds, then the
game will continue.
- A "Waiting for player" message with a countdown timer has been added for
gameplay. The player will be dropped after 30 seconds, the timer resets for each player
each time a packet is received from that player. It is possible for more than one player
to be dropped with notice of only one player being dropped shown.
Conserve Memory:
SET THIS OPTION ON MACHINES WITH 16 MB OF RAM OR ON SLOWER MACHINES.
This option is in SETUP under PERFORMANCE SETTINGS. Setting this option forces Armored
Fist 2 to use lower resolution graphics and audio. The lower memory usage means the game
will have to perform less hard drive accesses and have better CPU cache performance. This
will generally result in a faster game.
Nearest Goal Marker: The Nearest Goal Marker will assist you in locating the nearest goal
to your tank. The marker, which looks like a vertical bar with a small "G"
beneath it, travels along the top of screen like a Waypoint Caret. It can appear in any
view where a Waypoint Caret can appear, and can be turned on or off in the Graphics Menu.
To use the Nearest Goal marker, steer toward it until it is centered in your view and then
drive the tank toward it. The marker may change position if a different goal becomes
nearer to you.
Additional Key Commands:
I KEY: The I key can be used to turn ID tags on or off. This is an additional level of
control beyond the options in the Graphics Menu to turn individual types of Tags on or
off.
N KEY: The N key can be used to advance to the next waypoint just as if you drove through
it. Use this when you have passed a waypoint and do not choose to go back to it.
Special note about Deathmatch Missions: The Speed Selector buttons which appear on the
Control Bar when playing in Realistic Mode will not function in Deathmatch missions unless
you manually add your own waypoints. To add waypoints, go to the IVIS screen (F9) and
select "Add Waypoints".
About Armored Fist 2 and VESA VBE
Armored Fist 2 supports the VESA VBE standard for Super VGA graphics. Many Super VGA
graphics cards are VESA VBE compatible at the hardware level, requiring no special action
on your part to get the game running correctly.
If you are having trouble running Armored Fist 2 with the graphics card in your computer,
try the following steps:
1) If you have the VESA VBE driver that came with your graphics card, then install the
driver and try to run the game. Most VESA VBE drivers can be installed from a program that
you run at the DOS command line. Consult the documentation that came with your graphics
card or computer system for installation instructions and VESA VBE compatibility.
2) If you cannot find a VESA VBE driver for your graphics card, call your graphics card or
system manufacturer or dial up their BBS, AOL forum or Internet site. You will most likely
be able to download a driver or have them send you one by mail.
3) If you do not have a VESA VBE driver for your graphics card or your VESA VBE driver
does not work with the game, we suggest trying Display Doctor from SciTech Software. They
provide a shareware version of their VESA VBE driver via their web site. You can find
their contact information below.
Please note that SciTech software will only provide support for registered versions of
Display Doctor, and does not provide technical support for trial versions of the software.
